Silver Games
Friendship Village of Schaumburg and the Schaumburg Park District have joined forces to create two days of events for competitors age 62 and over. The event, dubbed the Silver games, includes 16 separate events including swimming, trivia, horseshoes, Texas hold' em, putting and more.
The first day of competition is set to begin with breakfast and an opening ceremony beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12 at Friendship Village, 350 W. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg. The day's event will close at 5 p.m. with a fish fry and karaoke jam for participants.
The second day will start with breakfast 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Schaumburg Park District Sport Center, 1141 W. Irving Park Road, Schaumburg. The final event - a Ping-Pong tournament is set to begin at 1 p.m.
The cost of the two-day event is $10, which covers the cost of participation in an unlimited number of events, continental breakfast both days, T-shirt, awards and a goodie bag. Library makeover open house
The Bartlett Public Library District will celebrate the completion of its recent remodeling project with special events and activities from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at 800 S. Bartlett Road. The community is invited to tour the new layout of the library, be entertained with fun programs, visit with sports mascots and enjoy refreshments. Girls night out for charity
The Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council will host a Girls Night Out fundraiser from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16. It will take place at Durty Nellie's, 180 N. Smith St., Palatine.
