Des Plaines

• A man who police say chased a male acquaintance with a wood-handled machete in a parking lot on the 3000 Mannheim Road Aug. 28 was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Alfred Alexander Brown, 53, 9512 Kildare, Skokie is due in court Sept. 17. Police say he left the parking lot but was stopped by Rosemont police on the 7000 block of Mannheim Road.

• A home on the 2500 block of East Church Street was broken into between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Aug. 28. Burglars cut a window screen to get inside and stole a camera, laptop computer, MP3 player, two battery chargers and batteries. The loss was estimated at $3,136.

• Jesus S. Murillo, 19, 1370 Fargo Ave., Apt. F, Des Plaines, and Javier Vazquez, 17, 2059 Pine St., Apt. C, Des Plaines, were arrested around 9:20 p.m. Aug. 28 in an apartment building on the 1300 block of Fargo Avenue. Vazquez was charged with possession of marijuana, and Murillo was charged with obstructing justice. Their court date is Sept. 17.

• Bernardo Arredondo, 33, 333 E. Seegers Road, Arlington Heights, was arrested around 10:20 p.m. Aug. 28 on the 700 block of West Golf Road and charged with possession of marijuana. His court date is Oct. 3.

Elk Grove Village

• Greg Krasowski, 26, 348 Windsor Ave., South Elgin, was arrested around 12:40 a.m. Aug. 24 at 1170 W. Devon Ave., and charged with criminal damage to government property, police said. His Rolling Meadows court date was set for Oct. 8.

• Burglars stole wiring and an electric meter between 4 p.m. Aug. 25 and 8:15 a.m. Aug. 26 out of a building at 2299 Busse Road, police said. Value was estimated at $1,000.

Mount Prospect

• A home on the 900 block of North Wheeling Road was burglarized between 12:45 and 3:20 p.m. Aug. 28, and a video-game system and video game stolen. There was no sign of forced entry; the theft was estimated at $510.
