• Burglars entered through the unlocked attached garage service door and stole three watches, diamond rings, miscellaneous jewelry and money clip with cash between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Sept. 2 out of a home on the 1200 block of West Illinois Avenue, while the male resident was working in the backyard garden, police said. Value was estimated at $13,540.

• Thieves stole a white 90-gallon bug sprayer between 2:15 and 2:20 p.m. Sept. 2 out of the front yard at a home on the 1100 block of South Smith Street, police said. Value was estimated at $500.

• Burglars stole a GPS unit between 8 p.m. Aug. 27 and 1 p.m. Aug. 28 out of an unlocked 2001 Dodge Caravan parked at a home on the 1400 block of North Sterling Avenue, police said. Value was estimated at $321.

• Burglars stole an MP3 player, transmitter, and cell phone between 7:30 p.m. Aug. 27 and 6:30 a.m. Aug. 28 out of an unlocked 2006 Scion parked on the 1300 block of Knollwood Drive, police said. A value estimate was not available.

Schaumburg

• Jorge Espinoza, 35, and Monica Lopez, 48, both of 3216 N. Monticello, Chicago, were arrested around 3:50 p.m. Aug. 30 and charged with retail theft after a security agent for Macy's in Woodfield Mall saw them take merchandise and leave without paying, police said. Their Rolling Meadows court date was set for Oct. 15.

• Raul Herman Carrillo, 39, 20 Gant Circle, Streamwood, was arrested around 5:50 p.m. Sept. 1 and charged with retail theft after a security agent for JCPenney in Woodfield Mall saw him take merchandise and leave without paying, police said. His Rolling Meadows court date was set for Oct. 15.

• George Torossian, 35, 911 Medinah St., Bensenville, was arrested around 10:50 a.m. Aug. 28 and charged with battery after he threw a can of dog food that hit a fellow male employee in the foot at A Lamp on the 800 block of West Irving Park Road and punched the victim in the face because the victim found the can of dog food in an employee refrigerator and tossed it in the garbage; Torossian cares for the dogs, police said. His Rolling Meadows court date was set for Oct. 1.

• James P. Brown, 34, and Danielle Renee Rudd, 39, both of 1803 Dumont, Schaumburg, were arrested around 1:15 p.m. Aug. 30 and charged with retail theft after a security agent for Marshall's, 1488 E. Golf Road, saw them take merchandise and leave without paying, police said. Their Rolling Meadows court date was set for Sept. 26.
