Why didn't priest get as much time?

Let's see, according to an AP report on Aug. 23, this guy Vargas gets a 35-year sentence for sexually abusing kids, but Daniel McCormack was sentenced to only five years.

Were McCormack's crimes any less than this Elgin man or did McCormack (the Catholic Church of Chicago) just have better lawyers and more clout with the civil authorities?

I salute the Kane County authorities for a much more realistic sentence for sexual abuse than Daniel McCormack received.
