Voter registration drive: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays through Oct. 7, 837 W. Higgins Road, Schaumburg. The Schaumburg Township Republican Organization will man its headquarters to register new voters or voters moving to Schaumburg Township. Deadline to vote in the Nov. 4 2008 general presidential election is Oct. 7. (847) 884-6480.

Two forms of identification are needed with at least one showing current residence address. Voters must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years of age and residents of the precinct at least 30 days before Election Day. Those who are unable to make it during these times, may register to vote at the Reception Desk on the second level any time the library is open. For details, call the library at (847) 392-0100.

Schaumburg Township Committee on Youth: 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9, 1 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates. Meeting includes a session of the Juvenile Crime Enforcement Coalition for the area. (847) 884-0030.

Community Shred event: 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 6, Hanover Township Hall, 250 S. Route 59, Bartlett. Shred provides a safe and convenient way for Hanover Township residents to dispose of financial and personal documents. Free, for residents of the township only. May Jo, (630) 837-0301, ext. 2126.

Hope Community Church No Sale Garage Sale: 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sept. 14, Eisenhower Junior High School, 800 Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates. Donated items will be given away free to community members to celebrate the church's 10th anniversary in the Schaumburg/Hoffman area. First come, first served.
