German shepherds to show their stuff at rally trial, parade
Lincolnwood Training Club for German Shepherd Dogs will hold its 68th Annual Obedience Trial and fourth Annual Rally Trial on Sept. 14 on the club grounds at Central and Dearlove roads in Glenview. It will begin with the Pride on Parade at 8:30 a.m. This will be followed by the regular judging. Bring your chair or blanket and enjoy the judging and socializing. Food will also be available in the clubhouse.
Agility Trials: Fox Valley Dog Training Club will hold all-breed Agility Trials on Sept. 13 and 14. They will be in the Robert Vaughn Athletic Park at 2121 W. Indian Trail in Aurora. For more information, call Sharon at (847) 516-8207.
Agility Deadline: Stone City Kennel Club has set Sept. 12 as deadline to enter the club's agility trials to be held Sept. 27 and 28 in the Stone City Kennel Club Building, 13606 W Laraway Road, New Lenox. New Classes: Leash and Collar Dog Training will have a new puppy class starting at 6:30 p.m. and Basic Obedience at 7:45 p.m. on Sept. 10 plus a Post-Basic Obedience class (CGC) at 8:45 p.m. on Sept. 17. Available at 8 p.m. on Tuesdays is a drop-in class for AKC Obedience competitors. These are held at 238 Saunders Road (Kings Kennels complex), in Riverwoods. Get Pledge Forms: Save-A-Pet's 22nd Annual Paws on the Path Pet-Athlon will be Sept. 21 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Lakewood Forest Preserve, Shelter E, Route 176 and Fairfield Road in Wauconda. Proceeds will benefit the homeless dogs and cats at the shelter, so call (847) 740-7788, ext. 130, now to register and get your pledge sheets. The day's events will also include Jim and Jen from 102.3WXLC Radio, contests, vendors, microchipping and more.
Pet Fair: South Barrington Park District is presenting what is hoped to be an Annual Pet Fair on Sept. 20 at Marvin Dunteman Park, Witt and Penny roads. This new event will include numerous pet businesses specializing in pet outfits, animal massage therapy, an animal communicator, adopt-a-pet, a doggy treat bakery, dog training, day care providers and more.
