Briefs: Plane crash victims identified
Two of the three people on board a small plane that crashed Sunday into the front yard of a Fox Lake home have been identified as Samuel Hutchinson, 65, the pilot, and Brian Hutchinson, 38, his son, both of Spring Grove. Authorities declined to identify a toddler, about 2 years old, but acknowledged he was the grandson of the pilot. None were seriously injured. The Cessna 150 went down shortly after takeoff from a private airfield known as Pillow Hill, according to Fox Lake Police Lt. Jeff Norris. It lost power and clipped several trees before crashing and overturning in Michael Dahlen's front yard on Country Shire Lane. Dahlen pulled the three to safety and extinguished a fire that had ensued. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating. The neighborhood is technically in Fox Lake, but has a Spring Grove mailing address.
Tollway work
One southbound lane of the Tri-State Tollway will close at 8 p.m. today between Stearns School Road and Milwaukee Avenue for pavement marking operations in advance of a traffic shift. A second lane will close at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Thursday. At that time, the two southbound local lanes will be shifted from the median shoulder and left lane onto new pavement on the right shoulder and right lane as work continues to rebuild and widen the southbound lanes. The same closures are planned Thursday night if weather affects tonight's traffic shift.
