The country needs more oil refineries
Elizabeth Carlson in Fence Post (Aug. 28) states, "Drilling offshore won't bring relief."
Right now, it will not bring relief, but it will in the future. There is crude oil available now.
What this country needs first are more refineries. Where to build the new refineries is the problem.
We need to locate a place in the northwest Chicago area for a refinery.
It would create high-skilled jobs, which would result in high paying jobs.
What do all the pundits of "alternative" energy want us to use to get to work now?
Why doesn't Com Ed have windmills in operation now?
Answer, they don't need them to make money.
Why doesn't big oil have solar power?
Answer, they are in the oil business, and we all know their profit margins.
So until someone invents a "new" energy, we will continue to need and use oil as our energy to move America.
Oil has continued the American way of life for a hundred years and will for another hundred years.
Every automobile, wash machine, dryer, printing press, uses lubricants, from oil. Every plastic bag, hospital supplies, yes and even some parts of baby diapers are made from oil.
It is not just the automobile that drives us to oil use. It is our way of life.
Does anyone want to go back to the 1920s?
