Credit line extended

Money to revitalize homes in Round Lake Beach will continue to be available following recent action by the village board. The board approved an ordinance to renew a $1 million line of credit from NorStates Bank. The action allows for the continuation of the program to acquire and rehab homes, which was established in 2005. The village will pay a flat rate of 4.5 percent on all amounts drawn. A new agreement with the bank is required annually to continue the line of credit.

Vernon Hills street work

Vernon Hills' 2008 road rehabilitation project moves onto Creekside Drive in the Westwood subdivision near Butterfield Road and Route 45. Beginning Tuesday, contractors will remove the curbs, gutter, sidewalks and driveway aprons on that street. Arrangements have been made to have trash and recycling materials picked up between 6 and 7 a.m. Residents are asked to have their vehicles out of the driveway by 7 a.m. Final details of road work and landscape restoration in the New Century Town subdivision also are scheduled for Tuesday. Visit www.vernonhills.org or call (847) 918-3575 for updates.

Park chat

The next "Park Chat" for Vernon Hills residents is 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Grosse Pointe Park playground, near Route 45 and Grosse Pointe Boulevard. Staff of the Vernon Hills Park District will be on hand to chat with residents and will bring small giveaways for the kids to enjoy. Culvers of Mundelein also will offer free ice cream cups to participants. There is no agenda, but the event is designed to give residents a chance to have casual conversations with park district staffers.
