Armed robber strikes again in Schaumburg
An armed robber early Friday struck a sixth time in Schaumburg - this time a gas station he'd already robbed Sunday.
The BP station at 2351 Schaumburg Road is now the first gas station or convenience store to be robbed twice by the same man over the past several weeks, Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl said.
The robber escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash at about 6:15 a.m. Friday.
Police said his description matched that of the offender in five earlier incidents dating back to July 10. All six Schaumburg incidents have involved only one man, armed with a pistol.
The offender is described as 19 or 20 years old, about 5 feet 11 inches tall with a medium build.
Nebl said investigators don't believe these Schaumburg robberies are related to Wednesday's armed robbery by two men of a Mobil station at 2595 W. Golf Road in Hoffman Estates.
Schaumburg police believe their offender may be responsible for crimes in other communities, but they are only investigating and free to comment on those in their village, Nebl said.
The previous Schaumburg robberies occurred at 4 a.m. July 10 on the 1900 block of West Golf Road; just before 9 a.m. Aug. 9 on the 2300 block of West Bode Road; about 4:15 a.m. Aug. 12 on the 100 block of South Meacham Road; about 3:40 a.m. Aug. 18 on the 1100 block of South Springinsguth Road; and at 6 a.m. Sunday at the same BP station as Friday's robbery.
