Cary trash collection rates set to rise

Beginning Sept. 1, the village of Cary's contractual monthly refuse collection rates will increase. The rate increase is included in the five-year contract the village board approved last year with Groot Industries, Inc. The current $20.25 monthly rate for a 95-gallon refuse container will increase to $21 per month. The current $15 monthly rate for a 35-gallon refuse container will increase to $15.75 per month. The costs for yard wast stickers and refuse bags are also set to increase to $0.10 each, respectively. Yard waste stickers will increase from $2.50 to $2.60 and refuse bag costs will increase from $3.75 to $3.85.
