World Class Basketball Association: The World Class Basketball Association is looking for players for the 2008-09 Winter AAU/travel basketball season. Players in fifth-eighth grade, who are serious about the game of basketball and have a desire to play high school basketball in the future, are being sought. Adult softball leagues: Registration for Mount Prospect Park District adult softball leagues can be completed in person from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at RecPlex, 420 W. Dempster, Mount Prospect. Phone registration can be taken at (847) 956-5353 using a credit card. Payment in full is due at time of registration. Cash, check, Visa, MasterCard and Discover accepted for payment. Monday and Wednesday "A" and Tuesday and Thursday "B" leagues are available. Play begins Sept. 15; each team plays 10 games; ASA rules apply; there is a 10 run rule; gloves are optional; games times are at 7, 8 and 9 p.m. For details, call (847) 640-1000.

Fall baseball/softball: Instructional league for boys and girls age 7 to 12 starts Aug. 30 and ends Oct. 19 and is sponsored by the Mount Prospect Park District and the Athletic Barn in Mount Prospect. Baseball games will be played at Meadows Park on Saturdays beginning at 9 a.m. Girls' softball will be played Sundays at Busse Park. Starting time to be determined by the number of teams in the league. Registrations must be done in person at RecPlex on an individual basis. Forms are available at all park district facilities or online at www.mppd.org and click on "Athletics." Registration deadline is Aug. 12. Fees: Residents, $85; nonresidents, $95.
