Hoffman Estates gas station robbed at gunpoint
Police are searching for two men who robbed a Hoffman Estates gas station at gunpoint Wednesday night.
No shots were fired and no one was hurt, Hoffman Estates police Lt. Rich Russo said. The men walked into the Mobil station at 2595 W. Golf Road sometime before 8:45 p.m., and one displayed a gun. They ran away with an undisclosed amount of money, Russo said.
Police continue to search for witnesses, and they're looking at the gas station security cameras to see if they caught the faces of the suspects, Russo said.
Police are also looking into the possibility that the robbery could be connected to a recent string of convenient store heists in neighboring Schaumburg. However, unlike Wednesday's holdup in Hoffman Estates, the Schaumburg robberies were done by one man, not two.
"We're looking at all aspects," Russo said.
Police don't have a full description of the two suspects and no information on which way the robbers ran or if an escape vehicle was involved. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (847) 882-1818.
