Bears terminate contract of Ricky Manning Jr.

The Bears terminated the contract of vested veteran cornerback Ricky Manning Jr. on Tuesday. Manning Jr. appeared in 31 contests with 11 starts over the previous two seasons after the Bears signed him as a restricted free agent in 2006. The Fresno, Calif., native recorded 106 tackles, 3 sacks, 5 interceptions, 6 passes defensed, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and 13 special teams tackles during his time with the Bears.

Manning, Jr. originally entered the NFL as a third-round selection (82nd overall) of the Carolina Panthers in 2003. In 79 career NFL contests, Manning, Jr. has registered 292 tackles and 14 interceptions, returning 2 for touchdowns.
