McHenry Co. man arrested on drug, weapons charges
McHenry County sheriff's police announced a 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with numerous felony drug and weapon charges last week after a search of his house on Old Mill Road in unincorporated McHenry County.
Jae K. Kwak, of 1908 Old Mill Road, has been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm without a valid firearm owners identification card and possession of ammunition without the required FOID card.
The charges could put Kwak behind bars for up to 30 years, police officials said.
McHenry County sheriff's police said they received a tip last week that Kwak was in possession of drugs inside his home, and a search warrant was obtained to search the residence.
Officials from the McHenry County Narcotics Division and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration searched the home and discovered 9 ounces of cocaine, 50 grams of cannabis, a digital scale, a handgun and $6,000 in cash from the home.
Kwak was arrested and taken to the McHenry County Jail in Woodstock, where he is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
He is scheduled to appear before a judge Aug. 25, officials said.
