Injured West Dundee man's condition upgraded

A West Dundee man injured in a rush hour motorcycle accident Tuesday remained hospitalized Wednesday, but was upgraded to satisfactory condition.

Jonathan E. Nello, 28, of Grand Pointe Blvd., was taken via Flight for Life helicopter to Froedert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee in critical condition after the crash on Route 31 in Crystal Lake, police said.

Nello was heading south on Route 31 near Rakow Road about 4:26 p.m. when he lost control of the orange 2007 Honda motorcycle, skidded for about a quarter-mile and crashed on the shoulder of the road, Crystal Lake Police Sgt. Ron Joseph said.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, and no citations have been issued.

Nello, who was responsive at the scene, complained the front wheel of the motorcycle began to shake before him losing control, Joseph said. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

He was hearing a helmet, Joseph added.

Route 31 was closed for about 30 minutes Tuesday in both directions while officials tended to Nello and the helicopter was called in, police said.
