Fox River group discusses farming

The Fox River Ecosystem Partnership presents a bi-monthly Noon Network program from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on the topic "Farming and the Environment." It will be held at Kane County Farm Bureau, 2N710 Randall Road, St. Charles. Enter building via rear parking lot.

Participants include Steve Arnold, manager of the Kane County Farm Bureau; Nathan Clark of Chicago Climate Change, talking about carbon credits; Tom Ryterske, district conservationist for the Natural Resource Conservation Service, discussing conservation plans and new information on the Farm Bill; and Lenore Beyer-Clow of Openlands, providing a legislative update and preview of upcoming projects.

Noon Networks are free and open to the public. Reservations are not required. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch to eat during the program.

The Fox River Ecosystem Partnership, established in 1997, is one of 41 ecosystem partnerships in the state under the auspices of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Its territory is the entire Fox River watershed, covering 1,720 square miles and situated within Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, LaSalle, Lee, and McHenry counties in Illinois. Its membership includes individuals, governments, organizations and businesses that meet regularly "to promote, preserve, protect and enhance the natural, cultural, economic and recreational resources of the Illinois Fox River and its watershed."
