Park district wastes taxpayer dollars
As a Naperville taxpayer and a retired 27-year employee of the Naperville Park District, it never ceases to amaze me the excuses they (the board and management) keep coming up with for wasting the hard-earned taxpayers' money. After allocating $11,000 to get a group to teach the board how to get along, they now have let them go because they have more pressing matters to attend to. They sure do, how about explaining to the taxpayers about the waste of their tax dollars during these hard times.
Did we get a refund on any of this fee? What about all the millions lost on the plans that were scrapped for the new rec center? Perhaps they could start by cleaning house with board members and internal management. It sure would be nice to read some positive news about the NPD instead of all this trash that has made them a laughingstock in the community. How about featuring some of the hardworking core employees who do all the day-to-day great work for the community, like registering all the residents for programs, and the park crews who keep our parks so beautiful, and the support crews who keep our buildings clean and who set up for the programs? Maybe these people could use some of the wasted dollars if it's so easy to throw money away.
Here's hoping for some positive press in the future for the sake of all us taxpayers.
