Meeks should urge kids to go to school

Wow, State Sen. James Meeks, who is also a pastor or preacher, encouraging kids to ditch the first day of school because Chicago schools only spend $10,000 on each kid versus New Trier's $17,000.

First, what happened to the separation of church and state? How is it that a senator can preach this kind of stuff? Isn't that "state" stuff to be worked on in the Senate?

How is it that a senator can be a pastor in the first place?

I think we all know that the money comes mostly from property taxes. We should all also know that if schools don't pass all these No Child Left Behind deals, the schools don't get much from the state

Meeks should be encouraging all the kids to go back to school and do their best to learn and improve their futures, not trying to rile everyone up and tell kids not to go to school.

He should encourage them to stay away from gangs and drugs and learn - learn from teachers and books, not learn about walking down the street with a sign.
