Nutcracker auditions: Call for times, levels 6-P2, Aug. 22; pre-ballet to level 5, Sept. 12, Performing Arts of Spring Grove, 2222 Pierce Drive, Spring Grove. Teen Knitting Club: 3:30-4:45 p.m. Aug. 22, Wauconda Area Library, 801 N. Main St., Wauconda. Bring in a project to work on or use the library's supplies. Crocheters are also welcome. Bicycle Club of Lake County "Singles Ride": 9 a.m. Aug. 23 and Sept. 27, Meet at the Old School Forest Preserve in Libertyville, St. Mary's Road., 1 mile north of Route 60 at the "Trails" parking lot. 12-15 mile trail ride at a "conversational" pace of 12 mph on crushed limestone trails for singles of all ages. No one will be left behind. Helmets are required. There will be an opportunity for socializing after the ride. Young Eagles: Beginning at 10 a.m. Aug. 23, Chicago Executive Airport, (formerly Palwaukee Municipal Airport), 26 E. Palatine Road, Wheeling. Ages 7-17 can take their first plane ride free of charge through the EAA Young Eagles Program. Advance registration is recommended; walk-ups will be taken on a time-allowed basis. Country Western Blast: 5-8 p.m. Aug. 24, Little Big Horn Bar and Grill, 2061 West Maple, Mundelein. The Grand Dominion Group of North Shore Hadassah invites the public to their Country Western Blast with line dancing. Admission will be $10. Dinner and raffles will be available at an additional cost.

Knitters' Night Out: 7 p.m. Aug. 26 and Sept. 9 and 23, Lake Villa District Library, 1001 E. Grand Ave., Lake Villa. Bring a knitting or crochet project.
