Motorcycle, Jeep collide head-on

The driver of a 1998 Harley-Davidson motorcycle had to be airlifted to a hospital Tuesday night after a head-on collision with a Jeep Wrangler, McHenry County sheriff's police said Thursday.

Scott L. Didier, 46, of 227 W. Riverside Drive in unincorporated McHenry County, faces charges of improper lane usage and driving under the influence of alcohol when he recovers from his injuries. He was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Police said Didier and a passenger were headed north on the 3000 block of Ringwood Road in McHenry County when, for an unknown reason, he crossed a center traffic line and collided with a 2000 Jeep Wrangler with a 21-year-old driver and a 16-year-old passenger.

While the driver of the Jeep was treated and released on the scene, Didier and his passenger, Heather Didier, both required hospitalization. Heather Didier's age and relationship to Scott Didier was unknown Wednesday night. She was taken to Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry.

Neither of the Didiers was wearing a helmet, police said. Their conditions were unknown as of Wednesday night.

Scott Didier is slated to appear in court Sept. 12.
