FBI probing Fox Lake bank robbery

Police and the FBI on Monday continued investigating a weekend bank robbery in Fox Lake.

A robber held up the US Bank at 55 E. Grand Ave. about 11:30 a.m. Saturday. He implied he was armed, but a weapon never was seen, police said.

The robber walked up to a teller and handed over a note, demanding money, police Lt. Jeff Norris said. After collecting about $500, the bandit left the bank.

He was last seen running north across Grand Avenue, police said.

The robber was described as about 5 feet 9 inches tall, thin, and in his late 40s or early 50s. He had brown hair and a receding hairline. He was wearing a dark blue shirt, black jeans and white gym shoes.

Police believe the thief was captured on surveillance video.

The bank has not been robbed before, police said.

If you have any information about the robbery, call Norris at (847) 587-4965.
