Like it or not, but uphold Constitution

In the Herald's paper on Page 3 Section 1 Aug. 6, a story was printed whereby a Mr. James Stewart proposed that a resolution be passed that would go along with 82 other counties in Illinois supporting the second amendment to the constitution. Ms. Audrey Nixon signaled her skepticism on committee support for the resolution stating that she had to "think about all the deaths in this county that are the result of guns and all the kids that are dead because of guns." She further states "I cannot sit here today and say yeah I will get behind it." I offer to you Ms. Nixon that you have no choice, as do the other board members, but to get behind the resolution with your vote. You took an oath of office where you stated that you would uphold the Constitution Of The United States and the State of Illinois. That is your oath of office. You are bound by that oath of office in your vote choice and to not follow your oath of office is a failure to do your duty in that office. A failure I might add that is a slap in the face of every resident of Lake County that believes that this is the greatest nation in the world and to the men and women that have fought and died to keep it so. They died for that Constitution and the flag of this country including Lake County where you so proudly serve. Remember your oath of office and also remember that the people that use guns illegally for criminal purposes are not the ones you are voting for in the resolution. When you vote "yes" you are voting so that we the innocent of Lake County have a right to protect ourselves in our homes as well as our families. DO YOUR DUTY AS PRESCRIBED IN YOUR OATH OF OFFICE.
