Roadwork starts on Busse

Mount Prospect officials said the Illinois Department of Transportation reported workers will begin pavement patching and resurfacing work on Busse Road between Golf Road and Oakton Street in Mount Prospect on Monday. There will be temporary interruptions to traffic during the course of construction, but Busse will remain open at all time with one lane of traffic in each direction.

Significant traffic delays are expected during peak volume periods. Motorists are strongly urged to use the alternative north/south roadways such as Elmhurst and Arlington Heights roads to avoid delays.

Roadwork is expected to be completed in October.

Potholes on that stretch of road were especially severe last spring, prompting many complaints.

Travel to Costa Rica:

You can take a trip to Costa Rica on a travel/study tour through Oakton Community College. The trip, the school's final travel/study tour of the year, leaves in December. What you'll get to do is board a jungle ski lift in order to keep a sharp eye out for exotic life hidden in the rain forest. You will also travel to San Carlos and climb Poas Volcano, one of the world's largest craters. At La Paz Waterfall Gardens, you will view four waterfalls or visit the largest butterfly observatory in the world. An optional excursion to Manuel Antonio National Park is also available at an extra cost. Lower-cost versions of these learning vacations are available, with the alternative trips including more modest accommodations and meal packages.
