The Friends of the McHenry Public Library will hold a $3-a-bag book sale. In addition to books, they'll have computer software, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, games and puzzles. 18th Annual Pig Roast: noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 17, St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 24500 N. Old McHenry Road, Hawthorn Woods. Our house of Hope K-9 Rescue will host a garage sale, with furniture, an air-conditioner, children's clothes, toys, small household items and much more.
