Schaumburg police seek help in search for armed robber

Police continue to search for an armed robber who struck a small store in Schaumburg Saturday morning.

The lone man entered the store on the 2300 block of Bode Road just as it was opening for business at 9 a.m., Sgt. John Nebl said.

The man displayed a small, dark-colored handgun and demanded money before fleeing with about $100 in cash and cigarettes.

The offender was described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and 160 pounds with a medium build, black hair and brown eyes. He wore a light-colored polo shirt with dark stripes, dark-colored knee-length shorts and white high-top gym shoes.

The man was last seen driving a medium-sized, newer black car, possibly a Chrysler. The car had Illinois plates, but witnesses could not provide the number.

Anyone with information about the robbery or who might recognizes the suspect is asked to call the Schaumburg Police Department's Criminal Investigations Bureau at (847) 882-3534.
