Ahrens to speak at Homemakers open house

Kane County Association for Home and Community Education invites the public to its open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Kane County Unit of University of Illinois Extension, 535 S. Randall Road, St. Charles (across from Kane County Circuit Court).

The open house includes information on upcoming events and guest speaker Diane Ahrens of Piece-A-Cake bakeries in Gilberts and East Dundee.

The newly renamed association is beginning its 91st year, though its former name was Kane County Homemakers Education Association or simply, "Homemakers."

The association offers opportunities to get involved with your community and to make new friends. It offers continuing education lessons given by educators from the University of Illinois. The board advises member units throughout Kane County and creates events and tours which bring membership together.

Membership dues are $13. You may join an existing unit or create a new one with your fellow friends and neighbors. Membership is open to all people, regardless of sex, race, color, ethnic background or economic circumstances. Members belong automatically to our parent organization, the Illinois Association for Home and Community Education, which guides county associations and their thousands of members throughout the state.
