Goodbye Ginny, and thank you

Virginia B. Macdonald was a dear friend and mentor of mine for many years.

After the Goldwater defeat in 1964, Ginny was the glue that held the conservative Republicans together in the Northwest suburbs. She was a remarkable woman who believed that compromise was the key to successful government.

Because of her efforts during the years she served in the Illinois House and Senate, we grew stronger as a party and were able to elect Ronald Reagan, a true conservative, president of the United States of America in 1980. That was indeed a goal of achievement for our state and nation, because President Reagan made "we the people" once again feel good about our country.

So from the bottom of my heart, I will always be grateful to Ginny Macdonald for all of her hard work and encouragement during the years she represented the state of Illinois and our nation.
