Police search for goggles:
Buffalo Grove police are searching for a pair of intoxication goggles that might have been stolen from the local National Night Out event Tuesday. The department brought the goggles that simulate intoxication for demonstrations at the event at Willow Stream Park, 651 Old Checker Road. A pair, valued at $150, are missing, and police are asking that they be returned. Anyone with information can call the police at (847) 459-2560.
Pet microchip, rabies clinic:
The Cook County Department of Animal and Rabies Control in cooperation with the Schaumburg Police Department will conduct a one-day, low-cost microchip and rabies vaccine clinic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday. All Cook County residents can bring their dogs, cats or ferrets to the parking lot of the Petsmart store at 140 N. Barrington Road, at Schaumburg and Barrington roads, in Schaumburg. The animals must be secured on a leash or in a carrier and be at least 3 months old. A 1-year rabies shot costs $7, a 3-year rabies shot costs $21 and a microchip ID costs $10. Only cash or checks will be accepted and a valid state ID or driver's license is required. Sign up for notices:
Residents can officially sign up for a notification system through the village of Buffalo Grove. The system will be used to warn residents of emergencies, such as a boil order. Residents can follow the line on the right side of the village's Web site, vbg.org, to Connect CTY. Residents and business owners can enter phone numbers and e-mail addresses for notifications.
Barrington bean bags:
Registration is now open for the first Barrington Bean Bag Tournament. The tournament will take place during Barrington's final Summer Fun Friday, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 22 in front of Egg Harbor Cafe. Local bock band Roquemore will play oldies on the steps of the eatery. Food and drinks will be available from Sergio's Pizza, Pasta and Ribs.
