Lake in the Hills man charged with child porn

A 33-year-old Lake in the Hills man Thursday was accused of buying child pornography online.

Christopher Gidley of 507 Pawnee Drive was charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, a felony.

Police say an analysis of Gidley's computer showed he accessed child pornography Web sites.

Gidley's arrest was part of an investigation that began in April 2006, when the Immigration and Customs Enforcement uncovered a ring of commercial child pornography Web sites, police said.

The investigation found that many people in McHenry County and throughout the country had accessed the Web sites.

It was not immediately clear if the operators of the Web sites or others who accessed the sites have been arrested.

The McHenry County Sheriff's office did not immediately return phone calls for comment.

Gidley's bond was set at $50,000.
