Lake County research project
The Lake County Health Department/Community Health Center and Evanston Northwestern Research Institute are partnering to launch a new countywide research project. The Community Action for Health Equity is one of five partnerships across the country with funding through the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. The grant will be used to develop new policies, programs and health care services to demonstrate measurable change in the health of Lake County communities. Researchers are interviewing 480 families at hospitals one month after their children are born, and they will be contacted every six months to determine how stress and resiliency affect participants' lives, and how they influence birth outcomes. The data will be analyzed to determine what happens in their lives, and what programs and services are most appropriate to build healthier communities.
