Briefs: Eagles hold baseball tryouts

Lake in the Hills Eagles Travel Baseball Tryouts for the 2009 season for 12U will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Park Field 2 in Lake in the Hills.

$200,000 for file cabinets

Elgin Area School District U-46 is looking at spending upwards of $200,000 on fire- and water-resistant file cabinets. Students records are currently stored in old, rusting cabinets that offer little protection, Chief Financial Officer John Prince told the board Monday. The board will vote on the cabinets Aug. 18.
