Politics is made up of flawed people
In response to Mr. Ryan Melchin's July 28th letter "(It's time to say 'no' to the Democrats"), I would further venture that perhaps it's time to say "no" to both parties but "yes" to a strong third party that will be truly representative of all the people of Illinois and not just the favorite few.
Later, when that third party grows large, powerful and filthy rich from stolen state revenues, kickbacks and excessive taxes - and hence, no longer cares about the welfare of the people of this state, but only in increasing their pocketbook sizes (And they will do it too) - then responsible voters should dump them also.
What people fail to realize is that political parties, churches, governments, etc. are made up of people.
Being human beings we should realize that all of us are prone to human failures and that it is only by living in a perpetual state of vigilance that our individual and collect freedoms will remain free.
Freedom itself isn't free. Like a manicured lawn, if you want the lawn of state to look good, you weed, water and fertilize it periodically or else the weeds will grow and choke it to death. So vote!
