Arlington Heights

• Two vehicles on the 1100 and 1200 blocks of South Wilke Road were broken into overnight July 29-30. An in-dash radio/CD player was stolen from a 2002 Honda CR-V; damage and theft was estimated at $500. Tools were stolen from a 2007 Dodge Sprinter work van; damage and theft were estimated at $2,600.

Buffalo Grove

• Mykola Ternovyy, 17, 631 Hapsfield, Apt. 201, Buffalo Grove, and Konstantin Dmitry Smirnov, 18, 765 Grove Drive, Apt. 201, Buffalo Grove, were arrested around 4:10 a.m. Aug. 1 on the 800 block of Marseilles Circle and charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor. Their court date is Sept. 11.

Des Plaines

• More than $18,000 worth of construction materials were stolen when a burglar or burglars broke into a vacant building under construction on the 500 block of South River Road between July 17 and 22.

Mount Prospect

• Shalene M. Janke, 19, 917 Beau Drive, Des Plaines, was arrested around 5 p.m. July 29 and charged with retail theft from Kohl's, 1500 S. Elmhurst Road. Police said she was caught on videotape June 28 and was arrested at her home a day later. Her court date is Sept. 4.

• Emeliya Lachowicz, 49, and Yaroslava Vasylyshyn, 51, both of 3 Courts of Tidewater, Lincolnshire, were arrested around 5:50 p.m. July 30 and charged with possession of a detection removal device and retail theft from Carson Pirie Scott, 999 N. Elmhurst Road. Their court date is Aug. 15.

Wheeling

• A burglar or burglars entered an apartment on the 300 block of Inland Drive between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. July 31 and took a video-game console and game system worth about $400. There was no sign of forced entry.
