Briefs: Meet the Daniel Wright boss

Lincolnshire-Prairie View Elementary District 103 will host a reception Monday to provide staff and community members the opportunity to meet the new administrative team for Daniel Wright Junior High School. Staff, parents and community members are invited to meet the new principal, Howard Holbrook, and the new assistant principal, Bob Bolin, who will be recommended to the board that evening. The staff reception will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m., and the community is invited from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The reception is at Danield Wright Junior High School, 1370 Riverwoods Road, Lincolnshire.

Gurnee, private school link up

Gurnee village board trustees Monday night approved another work-study sponsorship agreement with St. Martin de Porres High School in Waukegan. This will be the third year Gurnee village government is a business partner with St. Martin de Porres for the school's corporate internship program. A four-student team will work for Gurnee over 10 months. Students are expected to learn computer skills, communication, telephone etiquette and other necessities to enter the workplace. Students in the program are required to wear business attire at all times.

Hotel groundbreaking

To celebrate work starting on a new Hampton Inn and Suites in Deer Park, a special groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday. The 104-room hotel is being built on 2.5 acres in the Deer Park Office Center off Lake-Cook Road, between Deer Park Boulevard and Quentin Road. Work on the hotel is expected to be completed by May 2009.
