Protect the animals, protect ourselves

I found the letter "Putting Ducks First Is Unsound Driving" to be greatly offensive. Hitting a Canada goose IS illegal. As far as ducks and other wildlife are concerned, they were here first. We have taken over their land.

It is ignorant people who are responsible for the decline in our ecosystem. We need to help preserve the wildlife so that we don't kill ourselves. Have you noticed all the mosquitoes this year? Our pesticides have killed most of the bugs that eat the mosquitoes. Every creature is here for a reason. Why else would we spend so much time and money to restore the wolf population? We need the animals here to maintain the ecosystem and maintain our way of life.

If you think it is scary enough on the highway without stopping for the safety of animals, perhaps you should slow down or stay off roads where there is a high animal presence. When driving on any road you should be prepared to stop at all times seeing as how you never know what the person in front of you is going to do. It is a tragedy whenever an accident occurs, however, I do not believe that is sound reason to hit a defenseless animal who deserves our protection.

We are the top predators on this planet. We kill things just because we can. Global warming is proof that it is already leading to our downfall. If you don't believe in global warming, then look outside sometime. How many rabbits, grasshoppers, butterflies have you seen lately?

With so many animals already on the endangered species list why would you want to add more? These are animals that future generations may never see, unless they go to a zoo. Furthermore, we do not have an endangered species list just because it's fun to have one - it is because the animals that co-habitate on this earth with us from the elephant to the grasshopper to the duck all have a necessary place in our ecosystem and they need us to help protect them.
