Bears' players learn they're distant cousins
When the Chicago Bears picked Danieal Manning in the 2006 draft, everyone figured it was a coincidence he shared a last name with Ricky Manning Junior, who joined the team as a free agent that offseason.
Turns out it wasn't a coincidence, after all. The two are distant cousins.
Suspicions that they were related surfaced as Ricky Manning talked about his "Aunt Kat," and Danieal piped in that he had one of those, too.
Then their grandfathers came to a game last year and looked like twins. Family members think the players share a great-grandfather.
Ricky says even though Danieal took his spot at nickel back, and his own future with the Bears is unclear, he just wants the best for his cousin.
