Man forced into attic during Schaumburg home invasion
Police said a Schaumburg resident was threatened with a gun and forced into his attic in the latest home invasion in the village.
Police said two men broke into a home on the 200 block of Wakefield Lane through a lower-level window about 11 a.m. Monday.
Once inside, one of the men confronted a man asleep on the couch, held a gun to him, told him to put a blanket over his face and demanded money.
After saying he had none, a pillowcase was placed over his head and he was forced into the attic.
Police said the victim heard the burglars ransacking the house. Schaumburg Sgt. John Nebl said the victim is still unclear on what, if anything, was stolen.
With the burglars still in the house, police said a second victim tried to enter the garage but was stopped by an armed burglar. That victim was ordered to ground, while the two burglars ran from the home.
Nebl said neither victim was injured.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Schaumburg Police Department at (847) 882-3534. No descriptions of the men were given.
