Greenberg's position on oil makes sense
I have had the opportunity to meet both candidates for the 8th Congressional District - Republican candidate Steve Greenberg and Democratic Congresswoman Melissa Bean. I met Steve Greenberg at the McHenry Township Center. When asked his position on oil drilling, Steve was in complete support for drilling in ANWR and off the coasts of Florida and California.
These areas are known to hold decades worth of oil and natural gas. These reserves will give our nation the time needed to develop alternative energy resources. Steve Greenberg gave an answer that hit the nail on the head: Drill now because that's what is needed for the American family and the American economy.
I met Congresswoman Bean at the Jewel/Osco in Woodstock. I asked Congresswoman Bean her position on drilling in ANWR and off the coasts of Florida and California. She stated that she was not in favor of such drilling. She stated that the oil companies already had 68 million acres leased form the government for exploration.
While this is true, the difference is that we already know for a fact that ANWR and the coastal areas off Florida and California hold massive amounts of oil and natural gas that is needed now. Common sense is needed now and that means we need to drill for the oil and gas where we know it is located, not where it might be.
It disappoints me that Congresswoman Bean does not understand our needs. That is why I am supporting Republican Candidate Steve Greenberg for the 8th Congressional District this November.
