Carpentersville
• A Carpentersville man driving on a flat tire was accused of drunken driving at 11:45 p.m. Monday on Lake Marian Road across from the Carpentersville Fresh Market, police said. Jose Romero, 28, of 311 Sedgewick St., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, criminal damage to property, no driver's license and improper lane use, police said. Romero was held in the Kane County jail on $5,000 bond with an Aug. 12 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.
• Police arrested a 47-year-old man at 2:15 p.m. Monday in a dispute over his residency. William T. Covington, either homeless or of 41 Sparrow Court, Carpentersville, was charged with violation of the sex offender registration act, police said. Covington said in court Tuesday he reports to the Elgin Police Department every week since he is a convicted child sex offender and has always told them he is homeless. Carpentersville police maintain Covington has lived at the 41 Sparrow Court address for about three months and pays rent there. Covington was unable to post a $10,000 bond Tuesday and was taken to the Kane County jail. His next court date is on Aug. 7 where a preliminary hearing on the case will be held at the Kane County Judicial Center.
Crystal Lake
• Two 16-year-old boys and a 14-year-old boy were accused Sunday of shooting paintballs with an airgun from a moving in at least 24 incidents in the Crystal Lake area, police said. They were issued notices to appear for the unlawful discharge of an air gun within the city limits and were released to their parents.
Elgin
• An Elgin man wanted on a drug warrant was arrested at 2;20 p.m. Monday along the bike path at National Street, police said. Moises Bautista, 51, of 841 Bent St., Elgin, was charged with delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a church, delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance, police said. Bautista was held in the Kane County jail on $15,000 bond with an Aug. 13 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.
• A couple became angry with officers after they were stopped at 10:30 p.m. Monday for a minor traffic offense at Jackson and South streets, police said. John R. Parnell, 43, of 337 Hilltop Drive, Aurora, was cited for failure to yield the right of way, failure to signal a turn, driving while license suspended and no insurance, police said. Tina N. Clark, 27, of the same address was charged with obstructing justice and resisting a police officer, police said. Both posted $100 and were released from custody. Both have court dates in Elgin, Parnell on Aug. 1 and Clark on Aug. 5.
•A trailer carrying a lawn mower valued at a total of $1,500 was stolen between 8 p.m. Monday and 4 a.m. Tuesday from the 400 block of Hendee Street.
Huntley
• A Huntley man Friday was charged with drug, theft and traffic charges, police said. Keith A. Glissendorf, 33, of 11115 Grove St., was charged with theft over $300, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license revoked, police said. He took concrete forms from construction sites and had heroin and syringes in his possession when arrested, police said. Glissendorf remains in the McHenry County jail with a $2,100 bond and a Thursday court date in Woodstock.
South Elgin
• A driver was pulled over at LaFox and Kane streets at 6:15 p.m. Monday after police said he appeared to be driving erratically. Steve Johnson, 51, of 792 LaFox St., South Elgin, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, police said. He also was cited for an obstructed windshield, driving while license revoked and no insurance, police said. Johnson was released from custody with an Aug. 20 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center in St. Charles.
