Work slows Algonquin Road

Algonquin Road will be reduced to two lanes between Pyott Road and Hilltop Drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today while Lake in the Hills' Public Works Department stabilizes the soil on the road's east and westbound lanes. Officials hope to complete this work, related to water main work performed there in the winter, the same day.

Sleepy Hollow celebrates 50 years

To commemorate its 50th anniversary, Sleepy Hollow is selling a limited edition die-cast replicas of police squad cars. Cars come in a clear case with a base and feature hoods and door that open. The cars are $50 plus $10 shipping and handling. Add an extra $10 to receive a Sleepy Hollow police department shoulder patch. All proceeds benefit the the Illinois Special Olympics. Violence counseling offered

The Community Crisis Center in Elgin is now providing domestic violence counseling services for northwestern Kane County. Counseling is provided by a licensed professional counselor and is available to adult and adolescent females. All of our domestic violence services are at no cost to victims. Experts say one in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime and an estimated 1.3 million women are victims of physical assault by an intimate partner each year.
