Wheaton man in critical condition after Naperville crash

Jasmin Zukancic, 21, of Wheaton, remained in critical condition Saturday at Edward Hospital in Naperville after the motorcycle he was driving hit the back of an SUV near Naper Boulevard and Chesterfield Avenue in Naperville.

According to Naperville police, Zukancic was riding a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle south on Naper Boulevard about 7:37 p.m. Thursday when he struck the rear of a 2004 Honda Pilot SUV driven by Nathan Drye, 32, of Bolingbrook.

Police say that Drye was driving south on Naper Boulevard when he changed lanes into the right curb lane and braked for a vehicle turning west onto Chesterfield Avenue.

Zukancic struck the SUV in the rear and lost control of his motorcycle. The motorcycle went into the northbound traffic lanes and Zukancic struck the pavement and skidded along the roadway. Police say he was not wearing a helmet.

Both north and southbound lanes of Naper Boulevard were closed for about five hours while police investigated the crash scene.

Police were still investigating the incident Saturday and no charges had been filed.

Anyone with information about the accident can call the Naperville police traffic unit at (630) 420-6197.
