Arlington Heights
• Juan G. Gonzalez, 38, 401 N. Chestnut, Arlington Heights, and Manuel F. Flores, 18, 1202 N. Linden Ave., Palatine, were arrested July 18 and charged with felony theft from their employer, Best Buy, 615 E. Palatine Road. Police said that Gonzalez and Flores had stolen around $1,000 worth of merchandise. Their court date is Aug. 28.
Des Plaines
• Gonzalo Aboyte-Romero, 22, Raul Aboyte-Romero, 24, and Luis Arzola, 24, all of 10451 Doris Court, Apt. GW, Rosemont, were arrested July 20 and charged with retail theft from Kmart, 1155 E. Oakton St. Their court date is Aug. 13.
• A red 2002 Chevrolet dump truck (Illinois plate number 56598F) was stolen from the 1500 block of Miner Street between 2:15 and 3:20 p.m. July 18. A value estimate was not available.
• A man smashed a window on another man's car apparently because he didn't want to wait his turn at the gas pump. Police said a 2007 Nissan Versa was being filled at a gas staion on the 800 block of Oakton Street when a Mazda pulled up behind. They told him, in Polish, to hurry up; he responded in Polish it would be just a minute. A man, 17-20 years of age, got out of the car and smashed the Nissan's rear hatch window with his hand, got back into the Mazda and it sped off. Damage was estimated at $350.
• Someone picked up a flowerpot outside a townhouse on the 2100 block of Chestnut Street and hurled it through the front window around 12:25 a.m. July 20. He was last seen running through a courtyard and jumping over a fence. A damage estimate was not available.
Elk Grove Village
• William R. Brandt, 46, 681 S. Buffalo Grove Road, Wheeling, was arrested around 3:50 a.m. July 19 and charged with criminal damage to property at 53 S. Arlington Heights Road, police said. His court date was set for Aug. 4.
• A cell phone and laptop computer was stolen out of a guest's room at Super 8 Motel, 2951 Touhy Ave. between 1:30 and 4 p.m. July 17. The loss was estimated at $1,000.
• Cash and coins worth about $400 were stolen from an unlocked home on the 900 block of Hartford Lane between 1:15 and 3:50 p.m. July 18.
• A 2009 Dodge Journey SUV on the 1600 block of Vermont Drive was vandalized between 6 p.m. July 18 and 9:30 a.m. July 19. Damage was estimated at $400.
• Forty metal dies woreth about $1,000 were stolen from the property of Diemasters, 2100 Touhy Ave., between noon July 19 and 5:45 a.m. July 21. The thieves cut a fence to get in.
• Someone broke the lens covers and stole bulbs from two sidewalk lights at the Elk Grove Village Public Library, 1001 Wellington Ave. between 5 p.m. July 16 and 6 a.m. July 17. The damage and theft were estimated at $240.
• A Saturn on the 200 block of Smethwick Lane was vandalized between 6 p.m. July 14 and 9 a.m. July 15. Damage was estimated at $500.
• Rigoberto Vela, 42, 4829 S. Seeley Ave., Chicago, was arrested July 16 at Brummel Avenue and Lively Boulevard and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. His court date is Sept. 2.
• A 2000 Chrysler Concorde and a 2001 BMW 525i both parked in a business lot on the 2700 block of Katherine Way, were vandalized between 8 and 11:30 a.m. July 14. Damage was estimated at $1,000.
• Boxes of designer hats worth about $4,300 were stolen out of a trailer at Roadway Express, 2395 Arthur Ave. between 1 a.m. July 12 and 3 p.m. July 13. The thieves cut a fence to get into the property then cut a trailer lock to get at the boxes of hats. • A 1995 Toyota Camry on the 1000 block of Charlela Lane was broken into and an in-dash radio faceplate and CDs were stolen between 7 and 11:30 p.m. July 11. Damage and value were estimated at $520.
• A rented 2008 Dodge Caravan on the 100 block of Inverness Court was broken into and a GPS unit stolen between 8:10 p.m. July 11 and 9:50 a.m. July 12. Damage and value were estimated at $450.
Mount Prospect
• A 2000 Audi S4 parked in a lot on the 1800 block of West Palm Drive was broken into and a radar detector and keys were stolen between 7:30 p.m. July 18 and 3:30 a.m. July 19. Damage and theft were estimated at $550.
• An exterior apartment building wall on the 1700 block of West Mansard Lane was vandalized with spray paint on an unknown date but reported July 20. Damage was estimated at $250.
• A mens dark purple bicycle with cream handlebars was stolen from a second-floor hallway in an apartment building on the 2300 block of Cannon Drive between 9:30 p.m. July 17 and 12:30 p.m. July 18. The theft was estimated at $200.
