Senior citizen exhibit starts Friday

The Kane County Forest Preserve District presents "Timeless IX", a senior citizen exhibit, in the Campbell House Art Gallery beginning July 25 and running through Sept. 28. Participating artists must be at least 60 years of age. This is the ninth year the Kane County Forest Preserve and the Friends of the Campbell House are sponsoring this senior exhibit. Each year, the response to the senior exhibit continues to grow reaffirming the dedication and talent of seniors in the area.

Many of these seniors have been active artists for years while others are new to the arts, finding they now have more time to discover and develop their talents. The exhibit will include watercolors, oils, pastels, photographs, and ceramics, many of which will be available for purchase.

This is one of the district's largest gallery shows. It will feature 32 artists from Kane County and the surrounding areas. Due to the over whelming response to this exhibit, each artist will be permitted to exhibit only two pieces. Invitations to this year's exhibit featured a watercolor by Barbara Brown of Elgin. Other Elgin residents with art on exhibit are Ken Brown, Cliff Kasik and Lin Maxwell. Geneva artists are Don Patterson, Jerry Lake, Paul Conarty, Joy Smith and Nancy McGuire. St. Charles is represented by Liz and William Fowler and Delbert Webb.

Batavia participants are Dennis Walz, Pat Regenfuss and Herb Siebert. Participating from Woodridge are Dave Ducommun, and Joe and Judy Falout. The Aurora artist is Martha Griffith. Additional artists are Wayne Atkinson and Theresa Ratterman, both of Winfield; and Russell Vass, Ellen Cassani and Charles McPheeters, all of Naperville. Rounding out the list of artists are Marianne King and Wesley Watanabe, both of West Chicago; Grace Magill, Sandra Romashko and Loretta Christensen, all of Wheaton; and Robert Krajecki of Kaneville. Exhibiting for the first time are Robert Girard of Romeoville and Bruce Kullen of Sandwich.

There will be an artists' reception from 7 to 9 p.m. July 25. Light refreshments will be served. This is a chance to meet the artists and perhaps purchase a piece of artwork for your home or as a gift for a friend or relative. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.

The Campbell House is part of the Kane County Events Center along with Elfstrom Stadium. It is located at Kirk Road and Cherry Lane, midway between Route 38 and Fabyan Parkway in Geneva. The gallery hours are: 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, closed on Saturdays, and noon to 3 p.m. Sundays. If you plan to visit the gallery, call before you arrive at the gallery as other events and meetings may be scheduled in the gallery area. For information, call (630) 208-9567.
