Briefs: Cancer tour bus in Waukegan

The Fight Back Express Bus Tour is coming to the YWCA in Waukegan with the mobile message that Americans have the power to fight cancer in this country with their voices. The bus will be at the YWCA Lake County, 2133 Belvidere Road, from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network is sponsoring the 6-month, cross-country bus tour to highlight the crucial role elected officials play in supporting laws and policies that help people fight cancer. The bus is making 18 stops in Illinois, and will travel across the 48 continental United States through Election Day on Nov. 4.

Hiring seminar in Northbrook

St. Hubert Job & Network Ministry, based in Hoffman Estates, is hosting a seminar on hiring 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Village Presbyterian Church, 1300 Shermer Road, Northbrook. Festival closes Route 31

Route 31 on Saturday will be closed from Route 62 to Edgewood Drive, with Route 62 being reduced to one lane in each direction, due to the Founders' Days parade. The closures and reduced lanes will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Detours will be posted, but expect delays. Use alternate routes whenever possible.
