Downers Grove acccident hurts two
Two people were injured in a four-vehicle collision in Downers Grove during rush hour Friday, officials said.
The crash, believed to have started as a rear-end collision, happened at about 3:59 p.m. on 55th Street just east of Fairview Avenue, said fire Battalion Chief Bill Friedrich.
The impact caused a pickup truck to lift off the ground and land on top of one of the other cars.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital complaining of neck pain. A woman in the car beneath his truck was also transported to the hospital as a precaution.
Friedrich said his crew was on the scene for about half an hour, shutting 55th Street down during that time.
It was not immediately clear Friday night what, if any, citations were issued to any of the drivers involved.
Westmont officials assisted with the crash.
