Briefs: Looking for young seniors

The Vernon Hills Senior Organization is looking for young active members. The group meets in the lower level of the village hall on Evergreen Drive and Route 45, where a library, computers with Internet capability, pool tables, television and a meeting place are available. Members meet regularly to play bridge, pinochle and MahJongg, watch movies and celebrate holidays and special events. Weekly activities include line dancing, fitness groups, bingo and a book club. Run to benefit families

Run from the Cops, a 5K race to benefit the "Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund" kicks off at 8 a.m. Sunday. Registration is from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. at the Vernon Hills Summer Celebration site in Century Park on Lakeview Parkway west of Westfield Hawthorn Shopping Center. Cost is $30 in advance and $35 on race day. Participants can either walk or run the course which winds through the Gregg's Landing subdivision. All proceeds go to the fund, which helps support families of U.S. service members killed or severely wounded overseas. Call (847) 362-4449.

Grayslake Rotary wants you

The Grayslake Rotary is seeking members. The organization, which recently celebrated its two-year anniversary, awards scholarships, participates in food drives, has purchased computer equipment for schools in poor regions and provided other community services. Residents, business owners and retirees are invited to attend the luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Lake Forest Hospital campus on Route 120 in Grayslake.
