Plan for compost area
The village of Volo will be reviewing plans to open a waste and compost area on Fisher Road in the coming weeks. The compost area would be used exclusively by Perricone Brothers Landscaping of Volo, said Mayor Burnell Russell. Outside companies will not be allowed to use the area, he said. The compost area would be 6.2 acres. The issue is being reviewed by the planning board now and expects to go before the village board in August. Neighboring Lakemoor has turned in a petition to the village against the creation of the compost area. The company must also obtain a permit from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency in coming months. For more information, call (815) 385-3878.
Sentencing postponed

Jeremie Dalin faces up to 15 years in prison for posting the threat on a Web site last fall. The sentencing had been scheduled for Thursday afternoon in Lake County circuit court but was called off. No information was available about a new date.
