Man pleads not guilty in fatal overdose case
A Chicago man accused dealing a fatal dose of heroin to a McHenry woman formally pleaded not guilty Monday to a charge that could earn him a 30-year prison term.
Carlton D. Maynor, 28, also requested a jury trial on the drug induced homicide charge he faces in connection with the March 3 death of Laura Johnson.
Authorities said Johnson, 27, suffered a fatal overdose at a friend's home after ingesting heroin purchased from Maynor in Chicago.
Maynor, who is being held in the McHenry County jail on $250,000, is scheduled to return to court Aug. 1 for a pretrial status hearing.
