May-Treanor and Walsh win AVP tournament
Olympic qualifiers Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh won the AVP Crocs Slam Chicago Open on Sunday, beating Elaine Youngs and Nicole Branagh 18-21, 21-17 and 21-14.
The victory was their 16th consecutive tournament win.
"I think we're able to pull out these close games because of our experience. We know where each other is going to be and where we like the ball. We see the court well," Walsh said. "We're really in tune with each other. It's not all about hitting hard -- it's about being smart."
The duo has finished first in all 11 AVP Crocs tournaments since 2007.
Sunday's win was also their 90th straight match victory.
